Lightroom 5 Beta is the “Cat’s @$$”!
I recently downloaded Lightroom 5 Beta to try Lightroom for the very first time. Lately I’ve been experimenting more and more with my photos and I’m amazed at what can be done with Lightroom and select free presets.
Yesterday, I had fun researching free presets and spent last evening and part of this morning using them in turn on recent images I took at my own home and off our deck. (Yup! Good ol’ Mt. Cheam is among them.)
Here are the before and after images of the best of my work in the last 24 hours. I do apologize because I can only list how I altered and adjusted these images in general terms because I forgot to log the steps I used to achieve the final image. I promise I’ll do better in the future.

Top: original image; Next: cropped, decreased saturation, using radial filter, decreased clarity to create in-focus center and out-of-focus outside.
Middle: original image; Middle right: cropped, used a high contrast black and white preset.
Bottom: original image; Bottom right: cropped, used a color filter preset. This image in particular is interesting because the cloud shapes and shading appear to mirror the mountains below.
