Could Gold Bond Medicated Body Lotion be the solution for mosquito bites?
It is for us!
Gold Bond Medicated Body Lotion has been my ‘go to’ solution for easing itchiness of any kind.
Some effects of my anxiety disorder and allergies have been hives, skin rash, and general itchiness. In my attempts to deal with these torturous effects, I’ve tried everything from baking soda baths, to Polysporin, to the ‘After Bite’ ointment. and everything in between.
None of these remedies worked well, and in most cases didn’t work at all.
At my lowest point of desperation, I was seeing quite a few of the Gold Bond Medicated Body Lotion commercials and started to wonder if this might be helpful to me. After weeks of wondering, I finally broke down and tried it during a particularly bad case of hives and itchiness.
The effect was almost immediate – blessed, highly welcomed relief.
Now, the bottle of Gold Bond Lotion sits right next to me at all times, ready for use as soon as I start to feel itchiness of any kind.
Yesterday, my son Stuart and my husband Mark decided to cut the grass, which had become horribly long and thick through my own fault. We’ve had some issues with getting our kids (young adults really) to do the chore they’ve each been assigned while living at home in lieu of rent. In Stuart’s case, he’s been working very hard and for long hours on the farm and he’s been coming home so tired there’s no way he could bring himself to do the lawn. This would be fine, except he also hasn’t been cutting the lawn on his days off.
Mark, being Mark, wanted to go out and do the lawn as soon as he saw it getting long, but I stopped him because I knew that Stuart expected nothing less. Stu knows very well that if a job gets left or forgotten, his father will step in. I actually made Mark promise he wouldn’t do it this time, leaving Stuart to deal with the lawn, however thick and long the grass became.
Yesterday, Stuart finally did do the lawn and Mark helped him with the weed whacking and raking grass. As the lawn mower or rake passed through the grass, clouds of mosquitos rose, following them and torturing them with bites as they went. I, myself, was still in the house, but as soon as I noticed the mosquitos getting in, I shut the door – although it was too late, the house was teeming with mosquitos and I was already scratching away at bites. Mark had to put on a sweatshirt to try and protect him from bites while he finished – to no avail.
The itchiness was almost more than I could stand at this point and I decided, in desperation, to try the Gold Bond lotion and was so relieved to experience the same immediate relief I was used to when dealing with general itchiness and hives.
As soon as Mark and Stuart came in I handed them the bottle and told them to rub it liberally all over the bites, and the relief was evident by the relaxation of their bodies and faces.
One or two bites that were particularly bad did require additional applications of the lotion, but this was minimal.
Anytime we go camping or anywhere in the outdoors during mostquito or bug biting season, we’ll pack the Gold Bond. It’s now an essential in our household.
