Yet again, I learn from my son: this time about bullying.

I’m sitting here drinking my first cup of coffee of the day, wiping tears from my face, working to recover my composure after watching this video performance by Shane Koyczan of his own poem, “To This Day” … for the bullied and beautiful. Every once in a while, Stuart posts something truly amazing and inspiring – and this is yet another example.

It’s well worth watching the entire thing, just be aware that there is some very strong language.

As I was watching this, I realized that I recognized this guy as the poet who spoke about Canada at the Vancouver Olympics opening ceremony in 2010. He was amazing then, and he’s still amazing.

The CBC article about how performing at the Olympics has changed his life provides some background and understanding of his circumstances growing up.

A video of his performance at the Olympics follows.
